Reasons to Use Trenchless Methods

When a sewer line is blocked, leaking, or corroded, you can end up with an unsanitary environment or sewage backing up in the drains. Depending on the damage, the pipe may need to be repaired or replaced. In the past, this involved digging up your entire lawn and possibly drilling into concrete patios, driveways, and walkways. Trenchless technology has made excavations unnecessary, which saves time, money, and the environment.

Consider trenchless sewer services for:

  • Saving time – Digging a trench, fixing the pipe, replacing the dirt, and repairing the damage is all much more time-consuming than trenchless methods. Often, the job can be completed in one day.
  • Saving money – Since there is no need for excavation and you aren’t left with expensive repairs and replacing landscaping, trenchless technology saves money.
  • Reducing damage – Only two access holes need to be dug at either end of the pipe. This results in much less damage to your property.
  • Durable, lasting results – The repairs and new pipe replacements done with trenchless methods are durable and last at least as long as traditional methods.

In addition to these benefits, trenchless sewer technology is also beneficial for the environment in a few ways. Less waste is produced using trenchless methods since the old pipe is not removed from the ground. No excavation means the soil and the underground environment are not disturbed more than necessary.

Trenchless Sewer Methods

The most commonly used methods for trenchless sewers in West Hills include pipe relining and pipe bursting. Pipe relining involves inserting a specialized liner that is coated with an epoxy resin inside the existing sewer line. When the liner is set in place, it cures to the inside of the existing pipe creating a new pipe inside the existing one.

Pipe bursting is a method that is used in place of traditional methods of replacing a sewer line that involved excavation. The pipe bursting method involves using a bursting head to break up the existing pipe. As the old pipe is broken up, a new pipe is pulled into place. The original pipe pieces remain in the soil beneath the new pipe.

The best method depends on the amount of damage to the existing sewer pipe. When the damage isn’t too widespread or the pipe hasn’t completely collapsed, pipe relining may be possible. For pipes that are too badly corroded or collapsed, pipe bursting can be used to replace the pipe without disturbing your property or causing damage.
